Making Football Truly Global:
FIFA Stadium Guidelines

With its FIFA Stadium Guidelines, FIFA paves the way for stadiums large and small, those in planning and already standing, to realise cost-efficient stadium development – a milestone for the global stadium industry.

The project

The FIFA Stadium Guidelines establish a global benchmark for stadium planning, construction and operations, setting out best practices and standards that can be applied at any stage of a stadium’s life cycle.

The Guidelines aim to support national associations, as well as public and private stadium operators, owners, planners and builders.

The challenge

  • Complete work on the Guidelines in only a few months’ time
  • Integrate various authors’ contributions while maintaining consistent terminology, structure and level of detail
  • Ensure accuracy of interdisciplinary technical content
  • Verify the Guidelines’ feasibility and scalability throughout all project phases of stadium development

Our solution

  • Design a project plan that integrates the work of all project participants: FIFA project management, FIFA design team, authors, graphic designers and HFP
  • Develop and manage a content management tool that defines and monitors structures, responsibilities and deadlines
  • Implement clear project and process standards, through stakeholder workshops and other means

The result

  • On-time and quality-assured completion of the FIFA Stadium Guidelines
  • Integration and standardisation of various authors’ contributions
  • The Stadium Guidelines: a universally valid compendium of information on feasibility analyses, and the planning, building and operation of stadiums
  • A milestone for FIFA’s infrastructure management in its support for national associations and promotion of a sustainable, global stadium environment
